Flow and heat transfer inside a new diversion-type gas heating device

چکیده
The present paper characterizes ethylene glycol flow and heat transfer inside a new diversion-type gas heating device. A two-dimensional (2-D) natural convection heat transfer model was built and solved by the finite volume method with unstructured body-fitted grids. The numerical model was first validated through temperature comparison with the experimental measurements in a conventional device structure. Then analyses and comparisons of the flow fields and temperature distributions with use of different guide plate structures were carried out. The numerical results show that using the guide plate structures can form better organized flow patterns that augment heat transfer. The heat required for heating up the gas passing through the heating device can be reduced by 3% via installing two guide plates. ARTICLE HISTORY Received 11 December 2015 Accepted 16 February 2016

Investigation of the Effect of Geometry and Type of Nanofluids on the Heat Transfer Inside the Microchannel using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
The purpose of this article is the numerical study of flow and heat transfer characteristics of Nanofluids inside a cylindrical microchannel with rectangular, triangular, and circular cross-sections. The size and shape of these sections have a significant impact on the thermal and hydraulic performance of the microchannel heat exchanger. متن کاملThree-dimensional numerical simulation of temperature and flow fields in a Czochralski growth of germanium
For a Czochralski growth of Ge crystal, thermal fields have been analysed numerically using the three-dimensional finite volume method (FLUENT package). The arrangement used in a real Czochralski crystal growth lab included a graphite crucible, heat shield, heating device, thermal insulation and chamber including two gas outlets. We have considered two cases for calculations, which are configur...
متن کاملConvective Heat Transfer of Oil Based Nanofluid Flow Inside a Circular Tube
Abstract An empirical investigation was carried out to study convective heat transfer of nanofluid flow inside an inclined copper tube under uniform heat flux condition. Required data are acquired for laminar and hydrodynamically fully developed flow inside round tube. The stable CuO-base oil nanofluid with different nanoparticle weight fractions of 0.5%, 1% and 2% was produced by means of ul...
متن کاملInvestigation of fluid flow and heat transfer in tube hot metal gas forming process
In this study, hot metal gas forming process of AA6063aluminumtubeis studied with a focus on heat transfer of both fluid and solid phases numerically. An experimental study is simultaneously conducted to validate the numerical method. Some of the most important outputs of the present study, are velocity distribution of fluid inside the tube as well as the fluid in the gap between tube and matri...
متن کاملFast Response Temperature Measurements in a Reciprocating Compressor
Mathematical modeling of the dynamic processes in a compressor involves a knowledge of the various forms of energy exchange occurring in the system. Heat transfer to and from the gas is one such. Any detailed modeling of the heat transfer process would require a detailed knowledge of the temperature variations resolved to temporal scales at least as fine as the finest generated by the dynamics ...
